The city of Granada Spain in southern Spain is where the 800 year long Muslim occupation of the Iberian finally ended. Palace construction started during the 13th century to protect the city from christian attacks, the building took 170 years to complete.

This room is known as the hall of the two sisters, it is decorated from the bottom to the ceiling. The ceiling represents the cave where the profit Mohamed receives revelations from god.

These three dimensional decorations known as Masarabez are a characteristic feature of Islamic architecture, they consist of smaller pieces uniquely arranged together.
