1. Tivoli Gardens
Tivoli Gardens was founded in 1843 and is a national treasure and an international attraction. Fairy tale writer Hans Christian Andersen, visited many times, as did Walt Disney and many other celebrities, who all fell in love with the gardens. Part of Tivoli Gardens’ secret is that there is something for everyone. The scenery is beautiful with exotic architecture, historic buildings and lush gardens. At night, thousands of coloured lights create a fairy tale atmosphere that is completely unique.
2. Copenhagen Zoo
Copenhagen Zoo houses over 3,000 animals, which together form 264 exciting species. Whatever the weather Copenhagen Zoo offers tropical experiences in the Tropical Zoo. Snakes, crocodiles, marmosets, hornbills, dwarf deer, free-flying birds and butterflies are just some of the animals you can experience in the 1,500 m2 large rainforest. In the Children’s Zoo it is possible to pat the African dwarf goats and meet the farm animals at the Zoo stage. Here you can also experience the horses being trained, and you can pet them when they are fed at the grooming stations.
3. National Aquarium Denmark, Den Blå Planet
The Blue Planet has water on all side and is intended to give the visitors a feeling of being under water. The new building has five “arms” from the center of the aquarium. That way the guests can choose their own way around the aquarium to see the exotic animals.
4. SMK – The National Gallery of Denmark
SMK – The National Gallery of Denmark (Statens Museum for Kunst) is Denmark’s largest art museum, featuring outstanding collections of Danish and international art from the past seven centuries. SMK is located just off of Copenhagen’s Nørreport station. Here you can experience special exhibitions, the royal collections, guided tours, performances, art talks, concerts, workshops and much more.
5. Tycho Brahe Planetarium
The Space Theatre is the heart of the Planetarium and features a 1000 m2 dome-shaped screen. Go on a journey to the infinite universe, back to the dinosaur era, below sea level and more. The big screen offers you a unique experience, which will make you feel like you are part of the movie. No matter what film you choose, it always starts with a journey into space and a presentation of the current starry sky. For the 3D-movies you will be equipped with electronic 3D-glasses, which will give you a realistic feeling of being up close. When you choose an IMAX-movie you will feel like the picture from the grand dome surrounds you.
