Europe’s fastest and highest rollercoaster just opened at Ferrari Land, Spain

Europe’s fastest and highest roller coaster has just opened in Spain, as part of a new Ferrari Land attraction. Ferrari Land is the latest addition to PortAventura World, its third park, located on Spain’s Costa Dorada, close to Barcelona.

The new park will feature 11 attractions including an immersive Ferrari Experience, as well as the continent-beating rollercoaster Red Force. The ride accelerates from 0 to 112mph in 5 seconds and is over 367 feet tall, meaning it outstrips the UK’s tallest rollercoaster – Blackpool’s The Big One – by more than one hundred feet.

The park, which was opened this week in a grand ceremony featuring Enzo Ferrari’s son Piero, will also feature race simulators, bambini-sized race cars and a selection of Italian-themed dining options.

The world’s tallest rollercoaster stands at 456 ft and can be found at Six Flags Great Adventure park in New Jersey, US. An even taller ride, to be called Skyplex 360, is slated to open in Orlando. The construction has been delayed several times but now finally looks like it will be underway this year, with 2020 mooted as opening year.

The fastest rollercoaster in the world can be found at Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi, and reaches a top speed of 149 mph.
